THE Silver MassKara Festival Organization Inc. has adjudged Barangay 17 as this year’s MassKara festival street dance competition champion, besting 14 other barangay contingents.
The champion will receive P100,000 as grand prize.
Contingents of Barangay Cabug placed first runner-up and will receive P75,000, followed by Barangay 6 as second runner-up with P50,000 prize, and Barangay 32 as 3rd placer to receive P30,000. [Read more]
BARANGAY Taculing was adjudged the champion of the 2012 Electric MassKara performing float competitions Saturday night, defending its title as last year’s grand winner.
Taculing, which won a cash prize of P50,000, bested nine other performing floats in the 6th Electric MassKara held at the Tourism Strip, along Lacson St. in Bacolod from October 19 to 21.
The barangay’s float featured a red large bird that depicted the “Manok ni San Pedro,” while dancers were dressed like roosters as they wore head dresses that looked liked the animal’s comb. [Read more]
BACOLOD CITY — Students, parents and teachers brave the heavy downpour Saturday afternoon as the Masskara Street and Dance Competition School category proceeded as scheduled.
Eleven contingents from the elementary and secondary division participated in Saturday’s dance competition. Last year’s champion in the elementary division also bagged this year’s top award.
Grand champion during Saturday’s dance competition is from Sum-ag Elementary School, which also bagged the best in concept award. [Read more]

The whole 18-block Tourism Strip at Lacson St. was jampacked with revelers as the three-night Electric MassKara kicked off last night (Oct. 19) with the parade of LCC giant MassKara puppets, Majica MassKara floats, schools and corporate floats, and Nights of Mardi Gras fantasy costume winners, and featuring eight music stations all over the Strip that turned the place into one giant street party.
