OFWs urged not to splurge on goodies for loved ones

OVERSEAS Filipino workers (OFWs) were urged Friday to save money instead of spending everything on goodies to be sent to their loved ones back home.

In a statement, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said OFWs must learn to resist the urge of giving all out, especially on material stuff.

“OFWs should not be blinded by the fact that they are earning good money. There are so many stories of OFWs that tell of their painful struggle abroad to earn for their families but have forgotten to save and invest for the rainy day. And they come home for good only to realize that they have to start all over again,” said Baldoz. (MORE)
