OFWs urged not to splurge on goodies for loved ones

OVERSEAS Filipino workers (OFWs) were urged Friday to save money instead of spending everything on goodies to be sent to their loved ones back home.

In a statement, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said OFWs must learn to resist the urge of giving all out, especially on material stuff.

“OFWs should not be blinded by the fact that they are earning good money. There are so many stories of OFWs that tell of their painful struggle abroad to earn for their families but have forgotten to save and invest for the rainy day. And they come home for good only to realize that they have to start all over again,” said Baldoz. (MORE)

Barangay 17 wins MassKara street dance

THE Silver MassKara Festival Organization Inc. has adjudged Barangay 17 as this year’s MassKara festival street dance competition champion, besting 14 other barangay contingents.

The champion will receive P100,000 as grand prize.

Contingents of Barangay Cabug placed first runner-up and will receive P75,000, followed by Barangay 6 as second runner-up with P50,000 prize, and Barangay 32 as 3rd placer to receive P30,000. [Read more]
