TALISAY City’s annual Halad Inasal Festival this October 14, 2012 is expected to be grander than ever, an official said on Thursday.
Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao said that while the Halad Inasal Festival committee is going to finalize everything today, locals and tourists can expect a grander celebration this year.
Bucao, who chairs the committee on tourism and heritage, said that this year’s celebration plans to incorporate the famous slogan of the Department of Tourism (DOT) which is “It’s more Fun in the Philippines.”
“For this year, it’s more fun in Talisay City,” Bucao said.
For his part, Talisay City Administrator Richel Bacaltos told Sun.Star Cebu that six public schools in the city had committed to join in the street parade and festivities.
Aside from the street parade and dance competition, the Halad Inasal Festival will also feature a festival queen competition.
Starting 1 p.m., the street dancing competition will start from the Talisay City Hall and will pass the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) and turn to Barangay San Isidro Rd. and end at the Talisay City Central School.
Bucao said that, as of now, the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CTTODA), which he chairs, is preparing a traffic plan that could help motorists avoid traffic on Sunday.
He said they recently encountered problems in implementing a traffic scheme within the route area after they found out that the street parade will conflict with motocross competition at the Talisay City Hall.
Bucao said they are planning to temporarily close one lane of the CSCR from City Hall to the San Isidro junction for two hours and hope that motorists and commuters to Cebu City will be patient. JKV
